Safety Considerations when Using Inflatable Tubs

Once you have purchased and installed an inflatable tub, the next thing that you need to keep in mind is the safety of the people who will use the inflatable tub. These are some of the safety considerations when using inflatable tubs:

Durability of the materials used

Because the inflatable tub is made from a special type of rubber, look for an assurance on the durability of the materials used for the tub. The rubber should not easily be punctured. However, as a safety measure, you should refrain using the inflatable tub in areas where there is an increased possibility of damaging the rubber used for the tub.

Water treatment

To ensure the safety of the users of the hot tub, the water used for the tub should be properly treated. Chlorine, bromine, or peroxides may be used to eliminate bacterial growth in the water. Ozone may also be used as an alternative to chemical treatment.

The water used for the tub should also have the right pH and should be hard enough to contain the metals that will prevent corrosion of the heating mechanisms. PH testing and balancing can be done through the use of some chemicals. This is important to make sure that the water is safe for the skin and mucous membranes.

Use of accessories that enhance safety

Non-skid mats may be used to prevent slipping while inside the hot tub. Mats may also be placed beside the inflatable tub to prevent formation of water puddles upon stepping out of the tub.

The inflatable tub is generally safe for both adults and children as long as the instructions for use are being followed.
