It would be fun to be able to share your hot tub with your kids. They will have a blast in the relaxing water. The experience could even be therapeutic. However, kids do not have an adult’s balance and strength. It is your responsibility to make your hot tub kid-friendly or safe for them to waddle in.

Only big kids can join in.

If your child cannot even stand on the tub with his head over the water, do not even think of letting him or her join in. Make sure that your kid is big enough not to drown when only standing.

    Supervision is definitely best.

Whether your child is big or small, you should supervise your kid when he or she is in the tub. Even if you tell them not to run, children have the strong tendency to play. Although your kids may be of the sort who follows the rules, accidents still happen. Be near enough so that you can run to them when they need you.

    Put long hair in caps.

If your little girl has long hair, it is better if she wears it up and under a cap. This is to avoid her hair from getting stuck in the water return. Getting her hair stuck can get her drowned. While you may be just nearby to supervise, it is still good to practice extra precaution.

    Ducking is a no-no.

Do not allow the kids to duck, or they may get stuck and inhale all sorts of germs. You may be cleaning the tub regularly, but it is still best to keep the head over water.

Everything in the home should be made kid-safe or kid-friendly. The hot tub is no exception. Totally prohibiting them to use the tub may not be that wise, either. They may be tempted to go on their own, not knowing what the rules are. If your child is big enough, take him or her to the tub with you. Just remember to keep things safe.
